Author Richard Tobaben unfolds the action in a variety of settings and presents his characters through a variety of points of view. The characters themselves come from widely different backgrounds; they are at various stages of their life journey and equally various levels of self-knowledge. As a result, each responds to his or her crisis in a very individual way. All of them are challenged to re-evaluate their understanding of the world. But not all are necessarily capable of meeting the challenge.
Some of the stories may make readers laugh; others may touch more tender feelings or deep-seated anxieties and fears. Many will ask readers to think about their own sense of self, their own values, and even about their attitude toward wider issues of contemporary society.
